TWAIN 16-bit greyscale/rgb scan always loaded as 8-bit
GIMP version: 2.10.18
Operating System: Windows 7 x64 Enterprise
Package: Installer from gimp.org direct download
Description of the bug
I have a CanoScan 9950F which can do 48 bit color and 16 bit greyscale. When used with Photoshop CS6 x86 with the TWAIN plugin, I can make 16 bit greyscale scans.
With Gimp, and the exact same scan settings, the image in Gimp is always 8 bit.
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? Always
Reproduction steps:
- File -> Create -> Scanner/Camera
- Select Source -> CanoScan 9950F 10.3 (32-32)
- In scanner driver (ScanGear CS in this case) select Color Mode: Greyscale (16bit)
- Scan
Expected result: A Grayscale 16bit image opening in Gimp
Actual result: Image opened in Gimp says *[Untitled]-1.0 (Grayscale 8-bit gamma integer ...) Any exports done regardless of file format are all 8 bit.
Additional information
Again, this works in Photoshop. I can scan an image with the same settings, save it as a TIFF, and when opening it in Gimp it is reported as Grayscale 16-bit.
