Very slow performance of retouching operations (dodge/burn/draw/etc)
I'm using latest Gimp on Arch Linux. Amd Ryzen 3700x, 32gb ram, Nvidia 1060 6gb ddr5, latest Nvidia non-free drivers. Needless to say my machine is blazingly fast.
But here, when I'm editing large images (6700px wide), having big brushes is so painfully slow that I have to wait several seconds to complete my drawing.
It's slow to the point of not being acceptable for any professional work. I have a machine that should make these things instant. I wouldn't mind a slight lag, but several seconds to e.g. complete dodging large area is far too much.
I know my image is 16bit floating (8bit is slightly faster but not fast enough) and using big brushes (around 1000-1100, but even those of 700-ish are laggy), but this shouldn't be of any issue on my PC. I have very few layers (if at all) too.
