inconsistencies in gimp_paintbrush behavior
GIMP version: 2.10.12 Linux flatpak
Description of the bug
- Create a path with a single stroke going left to right.
- Add a green background (for contrast) and a transparent layer
- FB/BG colors are the usual black and white, active gradient is
FG to BG (RGB)
.
With
- Fade=0,gradient=0
- Fade=0,gradient=300
So far so good. This is coherent with a stroke that starts from the left
- Fade=300,gradient=0
First problem, the opacity increases left to right, when the PD browser doc says the opposite:
The 'fade-out' parameter is measured in pixels and allows the brush stroke to linearly fall off. The pressure is set to the maximum at the beginning of the stroke. As the distance of the stroke nears the fade-out value, the pressure will approach zero.
- Fade=300,gradient=300.png
Second problem, having a gradient disables the fade-out.
