Making a selection causes image to be corrupted
Seen in GIMP 2.10.10. I believe it happened in the previous version I had installed. Also 2.10.x but unfortunately I forget which one. Either way this does not appear to be entirely new.
Seen using Windows 10 on a Dell XPS Laptop with an NVidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card
Package: Installer from gimp.org
I start a new image. The dimensions don't appear to seem make any difference. I make a selection. What happens then is that a blank outline around the selection appears then about a second box the same size appears one pixel down and to the right. Then again and again until eventually the entire window to the right and down is covered in black. Black lines are also added to the left and top edges of the image and move diagonally downwards in the same way as the lines around the selection. I'm not sure if this makes any difference but I notice that this corruption of the contents of the window appears to be reset of you minimise the GIMP and then restore the window, but then it starts again.
Is it possible it's related to the screen on this particular laptop? It's one of those higher 4K resolution ones.
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? [Always]
Reproduction steps:
- Create a new image.
- Make a selection.
- Don't do anything else for about 5-10 seconds and the problem ought to be evident. I've also attached an image of what I see both as it's happening and once the entire area has been covered.
…
Expected result: This shouldn't happen
Actual result: It does & makes the application unusable.
