GIMP 2.10.8 randomly crashes using gradient tool on large images, 64-bit Windows

Description of the bug
When creating large images on 64-bit Windows with 8 GB of RAM, GIMP randomly crashes. This bug report is for crashes using the gradient tool.
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? [Always / Randomly / Happened only once ]
Reproduction steps:
- Create a new image 36.25 inches by 24.25 inches, 200 dpi in size. This image is 7250 x 4850 pixels in size.
- Set the foreground color to #fdce34 and the background color to #dc7527
- Select the gradient tool, and set the gradient to "FG to BG (HSV clockwise hue)."
- Draw a gradient on the image, and then select another tool to apply.
- GIMP crashes.
Expected result: GIMP draws the gradient
Actual result: GIMP crashes
