Status text "pushes" the canvas under the left dockables [master]
GIMP version: master
Operating System: all probably (Linux for sure)
Description of the bug
When the text in the status bar is too long, instead of getting ellipsized as it should, it pushes the canvas widget under the left dockable, having a part of it disappearing, and rendering very uncomfortable widget resizing.
Is the bug reproducible? Always
- Be in SWM.
- This requires a small working space, so if your screen is high resolution, you probably want to make GIMP window small.
- Select a tool which has long status text. For instance in my screenshot, I selected the Alignment tool. When the cursor is out of the image border, the status text becomes: "Click on a layer, path or guide, or Click-Drag to pick several layers"
Expected result: the text when too long should just get ellipsized.
Actual result: the whole canvas gets shifted in a very broken way.
This were some commits (by @mitch: commit e76c1305 in particular) which were supposed to fix this, I think. But it never got fixed. I always saw this issue on master. I tried to find the cause for this issue, but could not find the right fix. Hopefully someone else can as this is a very horrible bug.
