Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? [Always ]
Reproduction steps:
- Open a jpeg in GIMP 2.10
- Overwrite original
- Close file in GIMP
- try to add a tag, change rating, or any other property (or a resize) in Win File Explorer - error. See my personal test notes attached, only write for me to be methodical but you'll see enough to get the hang . File_size_unexpected_error.docx
Forgot to put in document: also tested on images that had not been opened in Photo Gallery, which I usually use first for quick and simple changes like cropping.
Expected result: Not corrupted
Further comment: I have now spent perhaps 10 hours working on this. Luckily, I found it and worked out answer before editing the 3500 images brought back from Mongolia - I would not have been amused to discover this problem months down the line, although enough damage has been done. You need to warn people and fix ASAP. I will not be using or retesting 2.10 till told that this serious issue is fixed. I can't understand how it isn't known (if it isn't) nothing special about my environment that I can determine. I am not a developer, just someone who uses a couple of tools in GIMP to enhance my photos mostly for my pleasure and that of family and friends, plus Twitter, Facebook etc.
