Pen button for erasor doesn't work properly
GIMP version: 2.10.4
Operating System: Windows 10 home Version 1803
Package: Installer from gimp.org
Additional hardware: Wacom Graphics tablet: Intuos "Art" Pen and Touch medium
The wacom Intuos stylus has no eraser on the back end but two programmable buttons on the side. In the tablet configuration program I created a profile for gimp and defined one of them as eraser. In gimp I set everything up under Edit > Input devices. It recognized the hardware, but the eraser behaves strangely:
When I hold the eraser-button on my pen pressed, I can select the eraser-tool from the toolbox and define any settings. But if I want to actually erase something, nothing happens. There is the circle showing the size of my brush, but the cursor moves independently from the brush without erasing anything.
Reproduction
It happens always, wasn't able to erase anything this way.
Reproduction steps:
- Install wacom tablet drivers
- connect tablet
- set up stylus buttons using the software installed with the drivers
- define one of the stylus buttons as eraser
- start gimp
- activate wacom hardware under Edit > Input devices
- Hold the eraser-button pressed and chose the eraser in the gimp tool box
- try to erase something holding pressed the button previously defined as eraser
Expected result: The chosen gimp tool (ideally the eraser) is activated and can be used, as long as the button is pressed.
Actual result: The chosen gimp tool is activated and the circle marking the size of the brush freezes somewhere on the canvas, while the cursor moves freely. When clicking to erase nothing happens.
If you press the eraser-button while actually painting something, gimp crashes.
