Palette Editor doesn't display big palette sets correctly

Big palette sets (with more than 16K colors) are not displayed correctly by the Palette Editor. Only a single line black of pixels is shown.
Why such big palettes are needed? Because many of the late 80s/90s computers had support for high color encodings that supported thousands of colors, like the Amiga, MSX2+, Sharp X68000 and others.
It wouldn't be realistic to implement support for their color schemes on GIMP. But it can be reasonably well accommodated using palettes, sometimes with some additional scripting.
I attached here two palettes from the MSX2+ 8-bit computer that trigger this problem in the Palette Editor.
