When openning a new image Gimp automatically resizes the window, often this pushes the scroll bars and toolbox off the edge of the screen
Environment/Versions
- GIMP version: - 2.10.36 - Windows 11 and Arch Linux
Description of the bug
I often work through a load of images to make small changes. I have the Gimp window on the right side of my screen and the folder of images visible on the left (Not snapped to the screen edges just floating). When I drag an image into the Gimp window it often automatically resizes the window. The dimensions the Gimp chooses often pushes the scroll bars and toolbox off the edge of the screen so I have to manually resize the window again to use them.
Reproduction
This does not happen with every image but always happens on the same images.
Here are some example images that that always cause the window to resize:
Expected result:
The Gimp window does not change size when opening new images.
Actual result:
The Gimp window resizes automatically when opening new image.
Additional information
My research has lead me to some settings which are expected to stop the above behaviour, but I've already set them as expected. These are:
Preferences > Image Windows > Resize Window on Zoom ---- Is unticked
Preferences > Image Windows > Resize Window on image size change ---- Is unticked
Preferences > Image Windows > Initial zoom ratio ---- Have tried both "Show entire image" and "1:1"
Preferences > Interface > Window Management - Save Window Positions Now ---- I've tried using this but didn't fix the issue.
This is very annoying behaviour and is a major frustration to my workflow.
