Missing metadata in OpenEXR images from darktable
Environment/Versions
- GIMP version: 2.99.18
- Package: MSYS2 UCRT64
- Operating System: Windows 11
Description of the bug
Exif and XMP metadata is missing when OpenEXR files exported from darktable are opened in GIMP.
See https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/issues/16121 and https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/issues/16212
Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? Always
Reproduction steps:
- Export an EXR from a raw file using darktable (4.6.1 here; need to tick all metadata boxes in export parameters first of course)
- Open the EXR in GIMP
- Go to Image -> Metadata -> View metadata
Expected result:
All original metadata is present in Exif and XMP tabs.
Actual result:
Only a few tags are shown.
Additional information
Both the Exif and XMP metadata is verified to be present in the EXR file using exrinfo -a
and exiftool
. Furthermore, the Exif binary blob can be dumped using e.g. dd
and verified it is correct using both exiftool
and exiv2
.
