I want GIMP to be officially distributed via Steam.

Paraphrasing, as https://www.reddit.com/r/GIMP/comments/3k6rfi/comment/cuvb9jl/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 explains:
- Steam is not solely for games - it also hosts Blender, Godot, and more relevantly to GIMP, Krita.
- Downloading GIMP via a Google search for technically inept Windows users is a minefield. This is obviously a product of the lack of package manager (until the emergence of https://github.com/microsoft/winget-pkgs/blob/44765da23c29fe77f5a441796b0cda01c28e2c97/manifests/g/GIMP/GIMP/2.10.0/GIMP.GIMP.installer.yaml#L13) but because
winget
remains a CLI tool and the Microsoft Store does not host an official version, locating https://www.gimp.org/downloads/#:~:text=OS%20is%0A%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20Linux)-,gimp%20for%20windows,-Updated%20on%202024 is the sole method of installation. - Automatic or manual (based upon user preference) user-specific updates are brilliantly useful for the kind of person who either always wants the latest version when they login, or doesn't want to fight something like the Microsoft Store (if it were distributed there).
