	Merged a large patch from Wolfang Hofer.

	Did some cleanup after applying the patch:
        - Removed all calls to _gimp_help_init().
	- Replaced all calls to gtk_init() with gimp_ui_init().
	- Added back G*_DISABLE_DEPRECATED to the CPPFLAGS.
	- Replaced newly added deprecated code with non-deprecated
	  variants.
