Enhance distance transform op to ignore image edges
I am just a third party reporting a thread on Gimp dev IRC, so that the conversation does not get lost.
The reporter wanted distance transform op to NOT calculate any distances from the edge, but only from the edges of a selection, yielding a different effect where there is no darkness along the image edges, only fading away from the selection edge.
Someone else said you could achieve the same effect by first uncropping (enlarging the canvas so that the edge was far away?) and after the gegl op, cropping to the original image. The original reporter said that worked but was unwieldy for large images.
So maybe an option of the operation, for convenience? Or Gimp could implement by wrapping the gegl op with the preprocessing and postprocessing steps described?
