Large CPU and Memory consumption after attempting to open and close large file
Due to some unexpected behavior on a downloaded zip file, the file opened in gedit. Gedit did attempt to open and display the file. Gedit becomes very sluggish and somewhat unresponsive during the load. If you hit the Cancel button (once it displays), the file closes, and system performance is no longer affected. If instead you hit the 'x' on the tab for the document, Gedit continues to hog an entire CPU core and increasing memory associated with the large file until you finally kill the application (closing the GUI leaves the process running in the background still). I believe it is still loading the file in the background, even when the UI no longer has a tab open for it. The longer you leave the process running, the more memory seems to be freed up once the process is killed/ended.
