Search function - legacy mode [feature request]
I recently switched from gedit2 (2.30.4) to recent GTK3 version and a lot of UI parts are very annoying and frustrating, maily CTRL+F search function which is different in many ways:
- one can expect that ESC will just close the Search window but it brings me back to the place where I commited search (yes, I know about Enter key)
- because of new controls I often delete or rewrite the selected code (found pattern)
- live search can be slow (as other users are reporting)
- no history like legacy gedit had
... so I switched back to gedit2 and enjoying great UX - 1) search 2) menu - external tools (it is a pain in the ass in gedit3 to get there with this "clickfest"). This version has only one drawback, sometimes one has to move Search window to the edge to see the code underneath, but position is remembered in next searches so no big deal.
Please can you bring back (with some option or plugin, whatever...) the classic search (like Search&Replace) to CTRL+F? Thanks
