Main email address is "leaked" when sending an email from an additional email address
Bug summary
When sending emails from an additional email address, Geary uses the additional email address for From but the main email address for Return-Path.
About you
- Geary version: 0.12.2
- Installation method: Package from Arch Community Repo
- Your desktop: GNOME
- Your operating system and version: Arch Linux, Kernel 4.17
- Email provider: Posteo.de
Steps to reproduce
- Add a new account from Posteo.de (other providers not tested yet but rather unlikely this bug is provider specific)
- Set up an alias at Posteo.de and add it as an "Additional email address" for the account in Geary.
- Send an email from the additional email address in Geary.
- Inspect the source code of the email, look for Return-Path and From.
What is the current bug behavior?
The additional email address is used for From but not for Return-Path. The main email address is used for Return-Path.
What is the expected correct behavior?
The additional email address is used for From and Return-Path. The main email address is not used at all in the email source code. As far as I know this is the standard behavior of email clients when handling the usage of email alias addresses.
