Geary's database doesn't currently serve as a backup, since if you lose all of your email on the server, there's no way to put it back. Also per #173 the current SQL format isn't friendly for host backup tools anyway, although that will get less worse as progress is made through #453.
So it would be good to have a plugin that serves these purposes - something that pulls mail off the server/out of the local database in a form that is suitable for backing up locally and provides a way of putting it back on the server in case of mail loss.
If this could integrate with Deja Dup, all the better.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/geary/-/issues/927Mail merge improvements2022-09-22T23:18:50ZMichael GrattonMail merge improvementsMR !541 implements a mail merge plugin, it has a few limitations to be overcome however:

- [ ] Images cannot be merged easily
- [ ] Merge progress is not saved between application restarts
- [ ] Only simple merge fields are supported, no conditional fields

I was delighted to see that Geary still lets you write plain text messages and even switches to monospace font when composing them. However, when I then look at the sent email it is displayed in a variable width font. This is a problem if you put space formatted tables or other 'ascii art' constructs in your emails.
**How would you like it to work?**
Plain text emails should always be displayed in monospace font. Alternatively, could you allow the user to choose the default font for plain text messages in the settings?
