Wayland with Nvidia Drivers falls back to x11
I've been trying to get GDM and gnome-shell to use wayland sessions while using the Nvidia drivers. I'm aware of the issues that are present as listed here, but I was under the impression that it was still possible to run gnome with this configuration.

I'm running GDM 3.36.3 (with wayland use flags ofc) on Gentoo booting with elogind (no systemd).

And I've followed the instructions here to disabled the gdm dev rule to default back to x11 when nvidia drivers are present.
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/GNOME/GDM#GDM_crashes_when_attempting_to_launch_a_GNOME_Wayland_session
I've also enabled wayland in the /etc/gdb/custom.conf file explicitly to no avail.
[daemon]
# Uncomment the line below to force the login screen to use Xorg
WaylandEnable=true
[security]
[xdmcp]
[chooser]
[debug]
# Uncomment the line below to turn on debugging
Enable=true
None of the logs I've looked at have mentioned gdb or gnome failing to load a wayland session, or any other kinds of failures. I've looked in the rc.log, dmesg, greeter.log for errors and found nothing.
Is there some part of the config to force wayland on an nvidia driver system I'm missing, has the functionality changed since version 3.32?
