Don't append "(IRC)" when tab-completing nicks
I'm using Fractal to connect to IRC, with the Freenode and GimpNet bridges.
When chatting, people who are connected directly to IRC (that is, not going through Matrix) appear as nickname (IRC)
, for example:
That's probably fine. It gives an information about how people are connected. I'm not sure that's very interesting, but why not, this issue is not about that.
However, when I type someone's nick and tab-complete it, it really should not append the (IRC)
. This just sends noise to everyone, including people on IRC, who are rightly confused by why I'm constantly sending this.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open Fractal
- Enter a room like #gnome-hackers on the GimpNet IRC bridge
- Observe how some people are called
nickname (IRC)
- Try speaking to one of these persons by entering the first few letters of their nickname, then hitting the
<tab>
key
-
expected result: Fractal completes the input to
nickname
-
actual result: Fractal completes the input to
nickname (IRC)
