Extracting rar file created with WinRAR 5.50 results in infinite extracting file
Environment of the user creating the archive:
Operating System | Windows 10 |
Software | WinRAR 5.50 (64-bit) |
My environment, used to extract the archive:
Operating System | Ubuntu 20.04 |
Software | File Roller 3.40.0 (cd485e70) |
Whenever he creates a .rar
file, regardless of content (tested with JSON, PNG, and MP3 files), File Roller will infinitely extract the file, creating something which is increasing to multiple GB until I press the cancel button.
I'm unable to open the "extracted" file in any software.
I received the file via both Discord, and email, but the same issue occurs regardless of how the file is received.
If he creates a .zip
file in the same environment, it works as intended.
If he upgrades to WinRAR 6.0.2 (64-bit), .rar
files work as intended.
I discovered this issue on File Roller 3.36.3, and verified the issue against the repository.
The following are files that reproduce the issue:
Expected
- Ideally, the user should be able to extract the file.
- At the very least, it should not extract infinitely and take up all the storage on the user's drive.
