Could we not trigger keyboard shortcuts when the key (combination) is actually an input to a text field?
Say we create some keyboard shortcuts via .config/evolution/accels
.
Among them, there are single character shortcuts (e.g., m
for move to …) and special key shortcuts (e.g., delete
for "archive").
Now, when the cursor is in an input field (e.g., the search input) the shortcuts (esp. those without any modifiers) are triggered as well, which can be confusing.
Would it make sense to not trigger keyboard shortcuts w/o modifiers in input fields?
Then, what about things like Ctrl+a
or Shift+…
? Or, could custom keyboard shortcuts only be triggered if the key (combination) "does not do anything" in the input field?
Sorry for me not being into GTK enough for more constructive proposals.
