S/MIME certificate cannot be selected
Within the GNOME Evolution UI: selecting
Edit -> Preferences -> Mail Accounts -> (selecting an account) -> Edit -> Security -> Secure MIME (S/MIME) -> Signing certificate -> Select
opens a "Select certificate" dialog. There is a drop-down for Certificate. Enumerated within the drop-down are certificates from local S/MIME certificate files and some certificates from Smart Cards, when I have the Smart Card inserted.
However, for some Smart Cards, the certificate I want to use is not included in the drop-down. I am able to confirm the certificate is valid, on the Smart Card, and accessible by using the
$ pkcs11-tool --login -O command. I am able to encrypt and decrypt emails with it using other clients for the same email account.
I suspect Evolution is doing some sort of filtering on the set of S/MIME certificates it lists in the drop-down. This filtering must be excluding the valid certificate that I want to use.
What are the criteria that a certificate must meet to be included in the drop-down?
Is there a work-around to specify a certificate identifier when it is not included in the drop-down?
