[IMAPx] Permanently delete single items in real Trash folder
Evolution-3.30.5
Please add support for deleting single mails in the physical trash folder.
Currently deleting single mails doesn't do anything if View->[x] Show Deleted Messages is enabled. If disabled, the mail disappears in the view, but not on the server. 'Expunge' does delete all mails in the Trash folder, not only the marked as deleted ones. This is inconsistent. "Strike through" font is never displayed like marked as deleted and Expunge behaves differently than on other folders. For deleting all Trash items there is already the feature "Empty Trash". IIRR deleting single mails was possible on Evolution-3.26.6, if someone has this still available and could check?
The feature is required for freeing space on servers when quota is close. I know about arguments about "Trash is trash and no archive". But I often use Trash over many different mail clients as "to be deleted" while actually deleting only to free space due to quota. Then I delete starting from oldest...
File managers usually support deleting single Trash items as "permanently delete", while allowing to permanently delete on other locations using Shift+DEL bypassing the Trash folder. I know Mail clients are no file browsers, but the Trash handling is kind of similar. My Webmailer behaves equally and I currently need to use that to delete single items from the Trash folder.
It should be additionally considered to support Folder Properties->Archive: [x] Auto-Cleanup messages older than 24 months [x] Delete messages
If such a retention policy not already implemented on server side, it is highly useful as automatic cleaning the Trash folder on client side. This feature also does nothing currently just like the manual delete.
Please remember that adding this feature would not break any other workflow as far as I can see.
