Creating/replying to an email takes a long while to open up the reply window and to format the email text
After upgrading to evolution 3.48.1, when attempting to reply to an email or creating a new email in evolution, the new message/reply window takes about 30 seconds to appear and then another 30 seconds to format the mail's text (change the font size to the configured font size and etc.). In both cases, once the window is open, everything works fine.
During this long time, the system is not really busy.
The evolution debug log show the following messages (not sure if related):
(evolution:10732): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 19:02:41.107: _gtk_css_image_get_surface: assertion 'surface_width > 0' failed

Upgrading to evolution 3.48.1 was done as part of an entire system upgrade so I'm not sure if this is just an evolution issue or somehow related to another dependency.
The issue reproduces when running evolution with all extensions disabled.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
