Send account override to a specific address does not change the From drop down on a new message when the email address is entered
Hi,
I'm trying to setup a send account override and it doesn't seem to be working for my use case. From a PDF application, I'm able to open an Evolution message window with a subject and PDF attachment. If I wish to send this to a specific email address and have Evolution send from a work account, rather than a personal account (which is the default), then I have to manually change the "From" drop down.
I thought of perhaps using the send account override option to have this happen automatically, but after setting the account override, the "From" drop down remains on the default.
- I have no other overrides set (account or folder)
- In the "Use for Recipients" section, I added "sitename.com" (I have also tried fulladdress@sitename.com)
- To exclude any potential problems with the application I'm using, I have tried creating a new message (from the default account) and manually entering the address which should be overridden - the From address still shows as the default account.
Possibly I'm doing something wrong but if so I can't figure out what it is! I did find a mailing list message from 2016 that describes a similar issue, but it's not clear to me is there was any final resolution (see reference 7 below).
- Evolution 3.40.4 (3.40.4-1.fc34)
- Fedora 34 Workstation
- GNOME 40.4.0
For interest, the PDF application I'm using is Qoppa, and the command I'm using from within the software (see reference 6 below) is:
evolution "mailto:?subject=$filename&attach=$filepath"
This works fine (as long as the filename doesn't contain an ampersand as per RFC2368)...
Within mailto URLs, the characters "?", "=", "&" are reserved.
...but there is no way to set a from address this way as far as I know...
For example, headers such as "From:", "Bcc:", and so on, should never be interpreted from a URL.
