PreferPlain: Deadlock when opening a message in composer
On Fedora 34 with Evolution version:
$ rpm -qa | grep evolution
evolution-data-server-langpacks-3.40.1-1.fc34.noarch
evolution-data-server-3.40.1-1.fc34.x86_64
evolution-langpacks-3.40.1-1.fc34.noarch
evolution-3.40.1-1.fc34.x86_64
and with locally build flatpak Evolution development version 3.41.1 (flatpak git88c4143)
I noticed this behaviour:
preparation steps:
- start Evolution (if no account present, you can configure it with server type "None" for sending or receiving)
- start new e-mail draft (does not matter: subject and body text, saving e-mail in HTML or "plain text" mode)
- save draft
- close draft window
trigger the problem:
- force "plain text" mode: Edit -- Preferences -- Mail Preferences -- HTML Messages -- Plain Text Mode -- HTML Mode: |Only ever show plain text|
- in Drafts folder double click on draft item to continue editing
result: No draft window is displayed. After clicking into Evolution window it freezes and must be killed manually, i.e. after a few seconds a small window appears:
"Evolution" is not responding.
You may choose to wait a short while for it to continue or force the application to quit entirely.
[Force Quit] [Wait]
Clicking [Wait] leads to the same window. Clicking [Force Quit] the terminal output is:
$ evolution
Killed
No other output in terminal or journalctl -b0
. There is no entry in ABRT or sudo coredumpctl
.
additional information: The 3 other "HTML Mode" setting options allow editing of draft.
