Attached meeting invitation can misbehave
I encountered several bugs in Evolution, not sure how and where to report them: I'm on Solus/Budgie (up to date, current kernel), installed Evolution through Software Center, version 3.28.5. Software Center points to this place for bug reports, not to the package maintainer. Please notify me, if I'm wrong here.
I invited a dummy user set up in evolution to a meeting using my regular user account(s) and Nextcloud calendar app web interface. This results in messages such as shown here:
Since Evolution is capable of dealing with calendars (and I set up that within Evolution for my Nextloud dummy user), I expected Evolution to present me with a question whether to accept or decline the meeting referred to in the email (like Lightning does), and create/update/delete it in my calendar. I was a bit astonished that I first had to click on the attachment button (which displayed the meeting details). But I found that.
But it took me several times opening the message until I got the meeting's details view (left, in preview pane). Most of the times, I get an incomplete view (right, message view). Mint that the message window was opened AFTER the preview already showed the details. I found that if I click on the event button right after opening the message window, I get the details, if I'm not that quick I only get the incomplete view. So I guess there's something wrong with parallel threads and synchronization here.
Probably this is also the reason for my next issue: If I click on one of the buttons (like "Accept"), nothing happens. Same if I try to use the keyboard (tab to go to the button, space to "click" it). So I tried Enter - which opened the right "message" window. Without being able to click one of the buttons, obviously I cannot use calendar at all since I can neither import nor update any appointment.
While experimenting, I tried to fill out the Comment field and noticed that pressing space leads to focus being removed from the text field - shift-space works, though. Same with Backspace! VERY odd. Also, typing a colon or a dot did not lead to these characters being entered/displayed, they seem to be swallowed. Usual letters could always entered as expected, though.
Also, sometimes the drop-down next to the calendar attachment button did not react. Moving the mouse away and back led to normal behavior and after several clicks that sometimes worked only, it always worked.
