Situation: Google GSuite account, where I do not control the configuration and the group that does has no clue about the benefits of OAuth2.
Evolution comes up wanting to use OAuth2 to for sending, receiving email and for calendar events.
OAuth2 fails completely for sending/receiving emails. However, I can click the reconnect button on calendar events, which runs through the OAuth2 configurations and works for a short while.
The main issue:
After editing the preferences for the account in question and setting send/receive login type to "login". Things function normally with login/password until Evolution is restarted. After a restart both send/receive login type revert to "OAuth2"
