SMTP: Extra empty line added at the end of the message
When sending an email (without any attachments) from a Gmail account (added using GNOME Online Accounts) in Evolution 3.38.4, the sent/received message has an extra newline carriage return & newline, i.e., CR+LF
, appended to the message body.
The expected behaviour is that the sent/received message appears exactly as it was composed (albeit with LF
s substituted with CR+LF
s)—without an extra carriage return & newline appended.
This issue does not occur with Microsoft Exchange accounts (also added through GNOME Online Accounts). As previously mentioned, this also does not occur if the sent message has an attachment. A plaintext email sent through Gmail's web client is also free of this issue.
(An email that was first sent to an outbox appeared to be free of this issue, but after the message was actually sent, a carriage return & newline was appended to the sent/received message anyways.)
Note: If the Sent Messages Folder
for the Gmail account on Evolution is set to On This Computer/Sent
, then the resulting message in On This Computer/Sent
will appear fine, i.e., with no extra (carriage return &) newline appended to the message body, while the message in Sent Mail
of the Gmail account, e.g., username@gmail.com/[Gmail]/Sent Mail
, will still have an extra carriage return & newline appended to the message body.
