Getting calendar reminder notifications twice (gnome-shell and evolution-alarm-notify)
I would like to revisit #60 (closed)
I understand the discussion there but still I'm unable to see the rationale for getting notifications twice by default.
For years, I've been closing both the "modern" (GNOME Shell) notification popup and the "classic" (e-a-n) popup window at the same time, many times a day. Sometimes even the "e-a-n is ready" notification. This is really annoying.
The only way of disabling this is to remove or modify a desktop file that will be overwritten with the next package update.
Isn't it time to remove /etc/xdg/autostart/org.gnome.Evolution-alarm-notify.desktop ? Or is this a downstream issue because it is the distributor (Debian/Ubuntu) in this case that is enabling it ?
