Ctrl-q should close Evince
This is a decade old one - see. The answers given in this thread cannot really satisfy. There are Human Interface Guidelines HIG, which IMHO clearly state that ctrl-W should close the window in front, and ctrl-Q quits the app, closing all windows at a time.
In the meanwhile, I think it's totally established that ctrl-q quits the whole application with EVERY open window. Every GNOME application I regularly use does so - gedit, FF, LibO, evolution, inkscape, FreeCAD - the list could be endless. Even many KDE apps now do so.
Only evince does not.
So - please agree on my vote:
Let's stick to HIG: https://developer.gnome.org/hig/stable/ui-elements.html.en And let's make evince behave like any other application: Quit Ctrl+Q Closes the application, including all application windows.
A few complaints will occur - and vanish again... (:
And you will make many vanilla users happy:
see this
and that
