Thanks for using Evince!
If you want to ask for a feature request, please search through the current issues, there is a big chance that the request has been asked already.
When reporting bugs about Evince, it is most helpful to include the document you were viewing. If you can provide a link to this document please include that link so the Evince developers can test against that document as well.
See also https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Evince/PopplerBugs#How_to_check_if_a_bug_belongs_to_Poppler_or_Evince to learn how to check if a bug belongs to Poppler or Evince.
An ideal bug report looks like below:

### Summary
Hovering over reference numbers (example: blablabla³) doesn't show reference in question.
### Description
Hovering over reference numbers appears to show a random part of the page in which that reference number is linked to, not the reference itself.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/-/issues/1995Set destination for bookmarks2023-11-08T15:23:49ZJoseph YulitySet destination for bookmarksCurrently the context menu for a bookmark item allows only to:

I propose a new item "Set Destination", which sets the destination of the selected bookmark to the current page.
Use case: when I read a book, I use a bookmark to keep track of where I am within the book.
Also useful to set the destination without removing the bookmark and creating a new one.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/-/issues/1994printing PDF file twice if more then 1 copies2024-03-09T10:02:10Zgongo longoprinting PDF file twice if more then 1 copiesIf I print 1 copy of documents everything is OK, If I set 2 copies Evince print 4 same pages. When changing to the next page of a document in non-continuous mode, with a zoom level that has some remaining vertical space to scroll, the scroll bar and page isn't at the 0 scroll position. After for example `ev_view_next_page (view);` is called.
Its offset by ~5 scroll units. Which means one has to press PAGE_UP two times to get to the previous page.
Selecting a page via the page numbers field also results in this offset scroll bar.
So the repro steps would be:
1) multipage document
2) disable continuous mode
3) set a zoom level to leave some vertical space for scrolling
4) go to a new page by typing a different page number in the field
5) observe the scroll bar not being at 0
6) hit PAGE_UP and see the scroll bar going to 0
I could not find the code that is responsible for this offset in listview, so maybe someone else has an idea whats responsible for this.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/-/issues/1805[Feature Request] Save As, instead of Save, for PDF/X, PDF/A, PDF/UA.2022-06-09T23:43:30Zrallg[Feature Request] Save As, instead of Save, for PDF/X, PDF/A, PDF/UA.Files of format PDF/X, PDF/A, PDF/UA are not meant to be edited by a PDF reader. Editing includes such things as adding bookmarks and sticky notes. I believe this would not be hard to code, since Evince already parses the information (it can be seen in its menu, Properties, Format).
If a file claims to have format PDF/X, PDF/A, or PDF/UA, then "Save" should be disabled. Instead, offer "Save As" and force a different file name. During the "Save As," remove the metadata string that indicates the file is PDF/X, PDF/A, or PDF/UA. It is probably OK to change PDF/UA to PDF/U, because PDF/U does not have the restriction. Also, the document UUID should be changed.
Other XMP metadata does not have to be changed, because removal of the format string implies that the file is not in that format, regardless of any other metadata.
Note that this cannot be achieved by read-only file permissions.
Editing the above PDF formats, while retaining the format string, should only be done by the original document author, with a new PDF file exported from the authoring software. Or, professionals can do it with professional software such as Adobe Acrobat Pro. But ordinary users should never be able to edit one of those document formats, using an ordinary PDF reader.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/-/issues/1788There is no page preview when zooming in/out2022-08-02T23:16:39ZRavenThere is no page preview when zooming in/outWhen I zoom in using the ctrl+two-finger-scroll(on trackpad) or even ctrl+mouse-wheel or just ctrl+-/ctrl++ it doesn't give me a preview and I have no idea how much I'm zooming in or out. However, F5 was not allowed because laser pointer buttons send an F5 keycode (see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=556162). I'm not very familiar with these devices, but maybe that's because you can accidentally press the button on the laser.
Maybe it's possible to make F5 exit presentation mode only if the signal is coming from a keyboard? Because that would be consistent with entering/exiting fullscreen mode.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/-/issues/1710Updating of annotations cannot be backtracked when using FCITX input.2022-04-01T17:29:28ZSati BodhiUpdating of annotations cannot be backtracked when using FCITX input.![evince_bug](/uploads/6e0ed3ee4f306d0462e5667ec131b175/evince_bug.gif)

This makes searching in these documents extremely painful.
