Description
Created attachment 312567 Empty PDF/X-3 document produced by Scribus.
In the "Properties" dialog, the "Format" field of my PDF file (version PDF/X-3) is shown wrongly.
Steps:
- Generate PDF generated by Scribus as PDF/X-3.
- Open it with GNOME Document Viewer (evince).
- Open the properties, "General" tab.
Result: the Format says "PDF-1.3".
Expected result: it should say "PDF/X-3".
Some additional notes: I am not an expert of PDF format, but I can see the following line in the file, when opening it with a text editor:
/GTS_PDFXVersion (PDF/X-3:2002)
I can also see that the PDF starts with:
%PDF-1.3
This is likely the reason why evince stops there. According to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDF/X), PDF/X-3 is based off PDF-1.3, which — I guess — may explains why there are 2 mentions (probably for backward compatibility, to have such a file work somehow on readers with no PDF/X-3 support). But PDF/X-3 is a more accurate format version, with more capabilities, especially color-managed (ICC profiles embedded, etc.) so it would be much more useful to have this information.
But maybe Evince actually has no PDF/X-3 support either and drops the color management information, so it processes the file as being PDF-1.3?
Attached is such a PDF/X-3 blank document produced by Scribus. Thanks.
