Viewing PDF booklets on-screen

Description
I've stumbled onto a problem: Some PDFs are distributed as "booklets" that are meant to be printed out, flipped over, printed again, folded, and stapled before reading. Such PDFs are incomprehensible on-screen because the pages appear out of order.
I have such a PDF, but I don't want to print it. I want to read it from the screen. But I can't: The first actual page is divided into two "logical" pages: The last and 0th pages (respectively) of the intended physical product. The second page is actually the 1st page and the second-to-last pages. And so on.
It would be a useful feature to be able to present such a PDF "booklet" as if it was a normal PDF with the pages in linear order. It would be a matter of splitting all the pages in half and re-ordering the resulting half-pages. Every nth page of a PDF booklet contains the nth page and the (m-n)th page of the intended physical book, on alternating sides.
Unfortunately, I could more readily write a PDF viewer from scratch than comprehend the internals of a GNOME application, otherwise I'd be submitting a patch rather than a mere feature request.
Regards,
Me.
