Keyboard Shortcuts: "Zoom1:1" and "Keyboard shortcuts" shortcuts does not work directly with Belgian keyboard
As said in the title, Zoom1:1" and "Keyboard shortcuts" shortcuts does not work directly with Belgian keyboard.
For "Zoom 1:1", Ctrl+0
works if I use the keypad. However, it doesn't work if I use the numbers from the main keyboard (numbers above the letters). For this to work, I have to press Ctrl + Shift + 0
.
For "Keyboard shortcuts", I have to press Ctrl+Shift+?
.
The problem is that "0" and "?" are secondary characters (need to use the Shift key), and not primary (written directly when pressed) on Belgian keyboards.
Solutions
- Add alternative shortcuts to keyboard shortcuts. "Zoom 1:1 (alternative)":
Ctrl+à
. "Keyboard shortcuts (alternative)":Ctrl+,
. For example, the alternative shortcut for "Zoom In" isCtrl+=
. Indeed,=
is on the same key as+
, and=
is the main character. However, I don't think this is the best solution as it involves adding all secondary characters as alternate shortcuts. Maybe more if other languages have these characters as secondary or tertiary characters on keyboard keys (I don't know). - Make shortcuts work with keyboard keys, whether the character is primary, secondary, or tertiary. For example, if the keyboard shortcut is
Ctrl+0
, it should work if I pressCtrl+à
, without needing to pressCtrl+Shift+0
or add an alternative shortcut (Ctrl+à
). For this, the key icons in the keyboard shortcuts page should be represented with keyboard key icons, not single-character icons. However, isn't this something to discuss with the design team, as this is not directly possible in Evince?
