"Save current settings as default" is non-standard, hard to understand
"Save current settings as default" is hard to understand:
- It's not used anywhere else in GNOME (or in any other app I've encountered)
- It's not clear which settings are saved, or indeed what a "setting" is in this context
- It won't always be clear what "as default" means
I think the feature is also stressful: people are asked to commit to a new set of defaults, but they might not know what those changes are, or how they get back to the original state if they want to.
I think we should drop this approach. Some settings make sense to be remembered per document (dual page, odd pages left).
For other settings, we can either keep the current settings for new documents, or have defaults that are used all the time.
