Opening links from PDF documents in external browser does not work
To reproduce:
- Open a PDF document containing a link.
- Click that link.
Expected behavior:
The link should get opened with Firefox, my default browser.
Actual behavior:
Nothing happens (besides the cursor starting to spin). The same issue occurs when clicking the "Website" or "GPL3" links in the about dialogue.
Firefox is installed locally in ~/bin/
, but I have the following desktop file:
$ cat ~/.local/share/applications/firefox.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Comment=Firefox Web Browser
Terminal=false
Name=Firefox
Exec=/home/r/bin/firefox %U
Type=Application
Icon=/home/r/bin/firefox.beta.d/browser/chrome/icons/default/default128.png
StartupWMClass=Firefox
StartupNotify=true
Categories=Network;WebBrowser;
MimeType=text/html;text/xml;application/xhtml_xml;application/x-mimearchive;x-scheme-handler/http;x-scheme-handler/https;
Firefox is set up as default browser in Gnome's settings. Executing xdg-open http://gnome.org
opens Firefox. Clicking the "GPL3" license link in the Gnome file manager about dialogue opens Firefox. Clicking a link in dino, a GTK3-based chat application, opens Firefox. From this I conclude that generally, my default browser is set up correctly, and just evince somehow strangely is not able to pick that up.
