Allow changing webapp icons from about:applications
Use case:
Yuck. I installed my favorite webapp as an app but it looks hideous because the web author didn’t provide a higher resolution icon so the webapp is just an upscaled webicon. I wish to replace the icon with a better icon I found on Google Image Search!
User experience design:
Hover over app icon in about:applications should show a black border around it and a simple camera icon on top of the icon. This design is used on Twitter and hundreds of apps and websites to indicate that you can change an image. Click on the app icon to open a file chooser. Select an image file and confirm the selection to dismiss the dialog.
Details:
Just copy the selected icon from the file chooser dialog and replace the app-icon.png. GNOME seems to pickup on the new icon right away unless the app is already open. It’s probably fine to not do anything more fancy to force update the icons here.
