Replace statusbar with extended overlay

This removes the statusbar (see #31) by extending the overlay to display more information. As a bonus it also makes right/left navigation buttons span the whole height. Here it is in action:

This MR is related to #42, but keeps the progressbar for now, as I could not figure out what the consensus on that is.
