Running in high DPI mode makes large images slower to load or fail to load
Version: 3.36.1, archlinux. Reproducible on both X and Wayland, both Intel and Nvidia.
open it under 2x DPI scaling. UI glitches out, and the image fails to load. I don't see anything interesting in the logs with EOG_DEBUG. debug.log
On smaller images that aren't big enough to break eog, I see slower performance in high DPI mode compared to 1x scaling. For example, on a 12000x4000 jpg, I'm seeing eog take about 1.5s on 1x scaling versus 2.5s on 2x scaling. I thought that something might have been scaling the image 2x in high DPI mode, causing it to take more time and fail somewhere. However, memory usage appears to be same regardless of DPI scaling.
I understand there has to be limit somewhere in what eog supports, though the fact that this works on 1x scaling but not 2x scaling makes me think this may be closer to a bug than a fundamental limitation. Also, the giant image works fine on Firefox.
