Empathy should probably not only truncate each line of the message, but also hide all but the first line. Another way may be to remove the new lines in the message, but that could be weird too.

Hi there,
I've somehow managed to get myself into a situation where Empathy's accounts dialog won't show up. (i.e. I click the Empathy app menu in the top bar of gnome-shell, click "Accounts", and nothing happens) That sounds like a bug to me, but I don't know how to proceed to even give you more information. I'd be happy to help debug this.
Thanks,
Andreas

Gtalk video calls fail to connect with the Lifecam HD5000 webcam. There seems to be some difficulty in accessing the webcam's microphone and video simultaneously. Sometimes, cancelling a video call, initiating a video call, cancelling the video, muting the microphone, transmit video, enabling the microphone results in functioning Gtalk calls.

## Description
There is an ugly jump of the dialog window to create a new account when you press the 'Add' account button in empathy-account.
This is due to the EmpathyProtocolChooser loading the list of protocol while opening the window, new items gets added to the widget triggering a window resize.
It would be nice to wait for the protocols to be loaded to open the window or fix the chooser size.

## Description
Hello, friends, i got a very big problem, and it's really annoying.
When i got Ubuntu 12.04 with Gnome Shell i used empathy to chat with my facebook account in the message tray and doesn't have problems. I've installed, in a clean install, Ubuntu Gnome 13.04 and when i open the chat, the system freezes for 5 or 10 seconds; when i switch of windows or search for a new app happens the same.
I tested also with Gnome Shell 3.8 in Ubuntu 13.04 and the problem persists.
Also tested configuring a Jabber account, but doesn't works with a Facebook account.
So, i don't want to return to Gnome 3.4 in Ubuntu 12.04, or stop using Empathy (or the message tray; if other app can use the message tray, it would be nice). If some of you has fixed this, i very happy if can tell.
Sorry for my low domain of english.

It would be useful to get previews from urls for media inside the conversation window.
Scenario:
1.- Someone sends the next link http://placekitten.com/g/464/306#.png to a conversation
2.- Empathy recognizes that link as an image url and represents it inside the chat room
The same thing could be implemented for youtube video, instagram or flickr photos.

## Description
The default IRC network list in Empathy includes irc.gimp.org / GIMPNet, which is one of the most relevant networks.
However, I think we should use the working alias irc.gnome.org / GNOME IRC to avoid the name problems around GIMP (beside the fact that the network is much more GNOME-related than GIMP-related).
The most common English definitions for "gimp" are 1. sexual or 2. derogatory to people with physical impairments. See Urban Dictionary or Google for more details (I couldn't briefly find a SFW link). Most objections to the name I can find are along the lines of "my school/work won't let me install this photo editor because of its name", so it's preventing adoption for no good reason. Fewer people will use GNOME IRC, but there's no reason to scare them away from it with a bad name.
GIMP is a photo editor, GIMPNet is a network about open source software. We don't need to associate it with the most common terminology above even if the GIMP project refuses to pick a professional name.https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/empathy/-/issues/681Clearing the chat window prints the previous 5 messages from the conversation2018-05-22T16:06:53ZBugzillaClearing the chat window prints the previous 5 messages from the conversation## Submitted by Stefan Momita

## Description
To reproduce "show groups" must be enabled and "show offline contacts" disabled. This cannot be reproduced with "People Nearby".
I have my gmail contacts organized in groups. Naturally, the contact list of empathy does not show these groups unless it has at least one logged in contact. Before 3.6, empathy also used to hide groups when a group became "empty" due to all contacts in it having signed off. Since release 3.6 and newer, a group that has become empty the described way stays visible. Pressing CTRL+H twice will hide the group in question though this manual intervention should not be needed.
