Some said in the mailing list that the UI would be cluttered. I don’t think so, because in ET v2.4.3, we use tabs in (what I call) the tag editor (right pane with the form / tag fields). There we already have `Common` and `Images` tabs, so we could add a third one with additional ID3 tags (additional = all that are not listed in `Common` tab).
Another possibility is to add a preference to toggle viewing additional tags in the `Common` tab, which would be set to `false` by default, but when a user would set it to `true`, they would see all the tags in the `Common` tab.
I personally don’t care _how_ it would be implemented, I’d just like to see this implemented.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/easytag/-/issues/50Tag Write Error on Windows: Error moving file ...\AppData\Local\Temp\easytag-...2020-12-09T22:48:17ZOrkhanTag Write Error on Windows: Error moving file ...\AppData\Local\Temp\easytag-XXXXXX: Permission deniedVersion: 2.4.3

EasyTAG fails to write to files over a GVFS/SFTP mount, yet it reports success.
# Steps to reproduce
* Mount an SFTP share via "Files" (i.e. Nautilus) using the "Other Locations" option
* Confirm write access to this share
* Open EasyTAG from a terminal so `stdout` can be seen easily
* Within EasyTAG, use the "Open" button (next to the file path box) to access this share
* Files can be read successfully in EasyTAG
* After updating some fields, save the files
* For each file EasyTAG attempts to write to, the following error is displayed in the terminal: `ERROR->apetaglib->apetag_save::fopen (r+)`
* EasyTAG interface reports _All files have been saved_
* Upon checking the files, no updates have been made
# Expected behaviour
* At a bare minimum, EasyTAG should be reporting an error in the UI
* Ideally EasyTAG would be able to write to these files successfully

It is not apparent to the user that this data ever existed, so they can easily erase it without realizing it while, eg., fixing a typo in in the song title.
The kind of data I'm talking about is what [eyeD3](http://eyed3.nicfit.net/) reports as these:
* `UserTextFrame: [Description: comment]`
* `UserTextFrame: [Description: description]`
Ideally, I'd like this data to be shown to the user even if it isn't editable in EasyTag, and I'd like a warning during save if it is going to be removed. Alternately, a warning dialog could shown when EasyTag opens the file, saying "This file contains additional metadata of a type unknown to EasyTag. It will be discarded if the file is saved."https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/easytag/-/issues/14preserve column widths or keep directory tree view more narrow2019-01-04T08:36:14ZGhost Userpreserve column widths or keep directory tree view more narrowIn Directory tree mode EasyTAG always resets the two left views (directory tree and files) to equal width which results in huge amount of unnecessary whitespace. One has to drag the middle line to the left every time EasyTAF opens. It would be nice if you could either add an option to keep the layout across startups, save the layout, set it to 1/3 and 2/3 (not equal), or simply place the middle line to fit the directories width automatically if possible.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/easytag/-/issues/52.4.3 fails to write tags to MP3 files if there are images2020-12-09T22:48:18ZChris Morgan2.4.3 fails to write tags to MP3 files if there are imagesCopied from https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=796018 (I thought all that was supposed to have been migrated?).

This is a critical regression between 2.4.2 and 2.4.3 on at least Windows.
Because of it, I reverted to 2.4.2, because 2.4.3 is completely unusable.
I open an MP3 file, initially exported from Audacity, in EasyTAG.
To demonstrate that it is specific to images, I edit tags and successfully save them.
Now I add a cover image (a 600×600 JPEG).
(Perhaps I also make other tag edits; it doesn’t matter.)
I save the file.
It reports success, but the MP3 file is unchanged, and there is a zero-byte file with the same name plus a .XXXX suffix (where X seems to be a random letter or number), and a handle to that file is kept open. When I exit EasyTAG 2.4.3 it disappears.
I have not confirmed whether EasyTAG 2.4.3 is able to write tags on files that already have images.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/easytag/-/issues/3Add support for ReplayGain2021-01-13T11:27:00ZMichael von GlasowAdd support for ReplayGain#### Use cases

* Users who have an MP3 collection with no (or incorrect) ReplayGain tags and wish to create/recreate them
* Users who would like to view if their MP3 files have ReplayGain information stored in their tags, and what is stored there
#### Desired behavior
* The ID3 view for each file shows ReplayGain information along with other values
* There is a button to scan the file and set its ReplayGain information automatically
* Optionally, a button/command for updating batches of files with ReplayGain information
Scanning can possibly performed with `mp3gain` as an external tool so easytag doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel.
#### Benefits of the solution
On Linux there doesn’t seem to be a simple, ready-to-use solution for adding ReplayGain tags to MP3 files. https://askubuntu.com/a/1042904/149408 suggests creating a custom perl script to accomplish this—there’s got to be a better way, and easytag is the obvious one.
#### Possible drawbacks
* If scanning is implemented internally, or using a library that is a dependency for ReplayGain or (e.g. on Windows) ships with ReplayGain, I don’t see any drawbacks other than a few extra kilobytes of storage taken up by easytag. It adds extra functionality without breaking any existing functionality, and anyone who doesn’t want or need it can simply not use it.
* If scanning is implemented via an external command-line tool such as `mp3gain`, the user will need to tell easytag where to find the binary, which is a potential point of failure. On the other hand, it would at most break the new functionality.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/easytag/-/issues/100EasyTag corrupts Ogg Opus files2024-03-08T20:17:07ZMatthew WoehlkeEasyTag corrupts Ogg Opus filesEasyTag seems to consider any Ogg Opus file that it hasn't tinkered with as "modified", even when no changes have been made. Additionally, every time Easytag saves a `.ogg` file, it gets a new comment *appended*. Easytag should replace/update the comment as it does for e.g. `.flac`.
However, the real problem is worse. EasyTag is actually **corrupting** the very beginning of Ogg Opus files. On the right side is a lot of free and unused space and the Scanner dialogue is really small, in fact its one one line. It would easyly fit on the right side, permanently visible.
Alternatively, it could be optional or movable like in GIMP.
