Allow opening multiple instances
dconf-editor is nice to use as poor-mans configuration tool for gnome-shell extensions. The extension schemas is unfortunately not registered "globally" so one have to start dconf-editor with a custom GSETTINGS_SCHEMA_DIR
like this:
GSETTINGS_SCHEMA_DIR=$HOME/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/paperwm@hedning:matrix.org/schemas dconf-editor /org/gnome/shell/extensions/paperwm/
If dconf-editor is already open the above does not work - the open instance is activated instead.
Would it be possible to enable G_APPLICATION_CAN_OVERRIDE_APP_ID
allowing a new instance to optionally be started? (if I understand the flag correctly)
My exact usecase is to add a button for opening dconf-editor from our not-fully-complete extension preference GUI.
If there's no technical or philosophical reservations against this I can attempt an patch.
