route remote_host not supported
I just had the same error as in https://askubuntu.com/questions/999665/cant-import-ovpn-file-key-file-contains-client-which-is-not-a-key-value-pair and despite issues being linked there and closed as fixed for some years, this issue is actually not fixed.
Edit: Issue description below is deprecated, the actual issue is different.
STR
- Import a config file with embedded certificates in gnome-control-center.
See https://askubuntu.com/questions/999665/cant-import-ovpn-file-key-file-contains-client-which-is-not-a-key-value-pair for details.
What happens
The file "test.ovpn" could not be read or does not contain recognized VPN connection information. Error: Key file contains line "client" which is not a key-value pair, group, or comment
What should happen
Import succeeds.
Or, at least: Display a useful error message, that this is not yet supported or so. The current error message is very confusing, also because it points to the wrong line, e.g.
Possible solution
Maybe just extract the certs to ~/.certs
or another place, where they can be read by OpenVPN (and yes, they can't be read everywhere due to possible permission/SELinux problems etc. Maybe you also have to place them into /etc/openvpn/client
.
