Description
Fedora 22 Workstation x86_64 gtk3 3.16.4 gnome-shell 3.16.2 Empathy 3.12.10
Please let me know if you need any more details about my system.
First of all it’s not possible to set up NickServ password in the Add new account dialog right away.
Empathy connects immediately after hitting the Add button resulting in a notification (with text input field) asking me to change my nickname or identify using NickServ.
From the notification it’s not immediately obvious it’s actually a chat window with NickServ so I have to enter:
identify <password>
instead of
/msg NickServer identify <password>
or instead of typing just a new nickname of just my password.
Because of this misunderstanding I have my password logged in the (Gnome) notification system.
Also, password entered this way does not get saved to the connection parameters so I still have to remember to enter the information there so it’s used next time I log on IRC.
BUT even when the password is entered in the Edit Connection Parameters window I get a different kind of notification when connecting, with a Provide (password) button which leads me to a window where I can provide my password (again!) and choose the option to remember it.
