Description
I just upgraded to ubutntu 12.10 and can no longer log into google talk. I need to use talk.google.com:443 to login (because of a corporate firewall). I am also using 2 factor authentication on google and generated an app specific password for empathy.
I setup the jabber account using these parameters and I cannot login. I ran empathy-debugger and the last lines I saw were: gabbleauthentication-DEBUG: 11/05/2012 17:31:46.315247: gabble_server_sasl_channel_start_auth_async (server-sasl-channel.c:814): Starting authentication gabbleauthentication-DEBUG: 11/05/2012 17:32:18.816824: gabble_server_sasl_channel_close (server-sasl-channel.c:965): called on 0xfac2d0 gabbleauthentication-DEBUG: 11/05/2012 17:32:18.816874: gabble_server_sasl_channel_close (server-sasl-channel.c:971): closed channel wocky/-DEBUG: 11/05/2012 17:32:18.816998: auth_failed: wocky-sasl-auth.c:274: Authentication failed!: Client aborted authentication.
(using wireshark, I determined google was ending the connection and then empathy closed the channel).
This worked under Ubuntu 12.04 and currently works using pidgin (using the same jabber parameters)
Version: 3.6.x
